Iced Sugar Cookies

Every holiday season my husband has one requested cookie, just like Santa his favorite is the Iced Sugar cookie. I usually break out the gazillion cookie cutters in my collection and make lots of different shapes but last year I decided to use a cutter I had never used that was a freebie from a Tupperware party years ago, the cutter has 4 shapes but they are not even an inch in diameter so I never really knew what to use it for, and then it hit me like the high winds of Wyoming to put a star on the iced holiday tree and they turned out fabulous, if I say so myself! Because of the awesome luck I had last holiday with this idea I decided this year to stick with only one cookie cutter, the holiday tree.

Tupperware Cookie Cutter

I always try to make at least one recipe during the holidays that I had never tried before and this time around for my new dessert treat recipe I decided to try the Cream Cheese Mints, shown above in the mint green and pink stars. I am assuming they were suppose to firm up but today they are still not firm, tasty but gooey.

Recipe is here: Cream Cheese Mints

One holiday treat tradition passed down from my mother is the Buckeye Candies. Who doesn't love Reese's Peanut Butter cups, well these taste almost exact! They turned out awesome! I actually ran out of chocolate to dip them in, my mother's recipe could be used for an Army, I think!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas holiday with friends or family and may you have a very happy healthy prosperous New Year 2016!

Stuffed Meatballs

It's what's for dinner! I tried this new sauce I seen at the grocery store Bertolli Porcini & White Truffle Oil and I wasn't real hip on the flavor with my spaghetti and stuffed meatballs. The meatballs on the other hand were amazing!

Homemade Sausage Gravy & Buttermilk Biscuits

Some of you know, I had set out to use up the 1/2 gallon jug of buttermilk in my fridge. First I made Red Velvet Cupcakes, wow they were a delicious treat! I then decided I would whip up buttermilk biscuits, and with a little sausage that needed cooked up, and some milk and flour on hand, Sausage Gravy Biscuits were created, we had the most filling lunch today.

Buttermilk Biscuits

Here I present to you, homemade buttermilk biscuits. The first time I have ever made them in my life. A side note, I will use a smaller circle to cut them out and I will not roll my dough out as thin. I like a thick biscuit! They stayed soft for hours!

Want to make these biscuits? I found the recipe here All Recipes Chef John's Buttermilk Biscuits

Wilton Race Car Cake

Happy 50th Birthday to my husband of 21 years! I made this birthday cake for him with the Wilton Race Car pan. From mixing the batter to the tidying of the icing on the platter for the photo op it took about 4 hours to complete.

Maid Rite Sandwiches

Yum! Maid Rite Sandwiches recipe originated from the state of Iowa, but these were made right here in the great state of Oklahoma, by yours truly. I added my version of Adrienne's Cucumber Salad and switched out the mustard with mayo topped with some cheese and ooh it is so good! A nice change from your typical hamburger patty.

Cucumber Salad

These are so sweet and delicious! Some camping friends brought this dish to one of the potlucks. I am usually the type of person that looks at something and judge by the looks of it I say "No thank you" but I tried them and they taste like sweet pickles. You can find the recipe at AllRecipes.com I bet they would be very good on that hamburger you just pulled off the grill!

Food For Fun, Pistachios!

So, there I was watching my husband work for his snack. With every cracking of the Pistachio shell to get that delicious little nut I seen that Pistachio shell pile getting larger on the coffee table. Why oh why does he make such a mess. I need to get him a container for those shells. He is happy, I am happy and back to pinning on Pinterest I go! Then with one click and one pin leading to another there it was, just the craft project I need! Looking at the pile of shells growing I should have plenty to complete the project.

Romaine Sprouts 2

The Romaine on the left was started a week ago, and the other two were started three days ago.  I shaved off a little of the bottoms on the two on the right. They seem to be sprouting much faster than the one I did not shave. I decided after seeing the difference I would shave it as well. So the trial of growing my own Romaine from a store bought package of three continues.

21st Birthday Cake

Happy 21st Birthday, Tabitha!

My daughter's 21st birthday is today and I decided to make her a cake with that in mind. I used my Wilton cake decorating skills, along with some delicious watermelon jello shot mixture for the martini glass. I am so tickled with how it turned out!
